Langworthy Honors Nick Sirianni On House Floor

U.S. Rep. Nick Langworthy, R-23, recently took to the House floor to honor Nick Sirianni, Eagles head coach and Jamestown native, after Sirianni’s Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl.

Langworthy, who is the same age as. Sirianni and also grew up in Chautauqua County, spoke on the House floor about Sirianni’s rise to become one of the winningest coaches in NFL history through a coach’s first four years..

“As a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, I never imagined I’d be here praising the coach of another team. But some stories transcend football rivalries, and Nick’s is one of them,” Langworthy said. “From a young age, Nick was immersed in the game. His father, Fran, was a beloved high school coach, and his older brothers, Michael and Jay, were standout athletes. In the backyard of their home, they weren’t just playing football–they were shaping a champion.”

Sirianni was introduced as the Eagles’ head coach in January 2021. Sirianni has led the Eagles to the third-best winning percentage in the NFL — .706 — since he was hired; is the owner of the sixth-best all-time career winning percentage; has posted the best winning percentage among active coaches; and is the franchise’s only head coach to make the playoffs in each of their first four seasons.

“Four years ago, he took over as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and wasted no time turning them into contenders,” Langworthy said. “But this season, against all odds, his underdog Eagles did more than just compete–they dominated. In a stunning Super Bowl victory, his team overwhelmed the Kansas City Chiefs, proving that heart, preparation, and relentless determination can overcome even the toughest challenges.”

After starting the 2024 season 2-2, the Eagles won 16 of their final 17 games. Despite his winning record, Sirianni and his often-fiery personality have been a lightning rod for criticism by media and fans alike, particularly after Philadelphia’s struggles at the end of the 2023 season and its .500 record through Week 4 in the 2024 campaign.

“But Nick’s success isn’t just measured in wins,” Langworthy said. “It’s measured in the message he sends to every small-town kid in Jamestown, the Southern Tier, and across small-town America: No dream is too big. No setback is too great. Success is never given–it’s earned. It’s built on faith in God, family, and an unrelenting will to win. It’s forged through late nights, setbacks, and moments of doubt that are met with unwavering determination. It’s about proving that talent, when paired with hard work, can take you anywhere. Nick, your hometown stands a little taller today. You’ve shown us what’s possible when resilience meets opportunity. And while hoisting the Lombardi Trophy is an unforgettable triumph, I know this–your greatest chapters are still ahead. … Fly, Eagles, fly– and go Bills!”
