County to participate in STOP-DWI St. Patrick’s Day
Chautauqua County Sheriff James B. Quattrone has announced that Chautauqua County police agencies and STOP-DWI Coordinators will participate in special efforts to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving.
The statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown efforts will run through Monday. Due to the number of celebrations during St. Patrick’s Day weekend, impaired and drunk driving is more prevalent. In a combined effort to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives, law enforcement officers across New York State and STOP-DWI programs will be participating in special engagement efforts.
The STOP-DWI Holiday Season High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI NY and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The Statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign also targets Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day/End of Summer, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Holiday Season and Super Bowl.
Highly visible, highly publicized efforts like the STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign aim to further reduce the incidence of drunk and impaired driving.
Quattrone notes that residents can help to make a difference by having a sober plan. “Download our mobile app – ‘Have a Plan’ or visit www.stopdwi.org/mobileapp and you will always be able to find a safe ride home Impaired driving is completely preventable. All it takes is a little planning,” he said.
