PTSA hosts Cereal Box Domino Drive

SILVER CREEK — The Silver Creek Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and Silver Creek Central School District are calling on the community to help “knock down hunger” with a Cereal Box Domino Drive – a fun and impactful way to support students and families in need.

Through April 8, the District will be collecting full-size cereal boxes in both the elementary lobby and the middle/high school lobby. The goal is to collect 1,200 boxes to help fight food insecurity in the Silver Creek school community. Donations will be used to provide snacks for students at school and will also be sent home to families who need extra support.

Before the boxes reach their final destination, the District will be putting them to good use in a spectacular event. On Friday, April 11 — the last day before spring break — the District will line up the cereal boxes in the school to create an epic domino run.

Hundreds of cereal boxes will be lined up and ready to tumble in an exciting chain reaction, representing how every single donation contributes to something bigger. In addition to being a visually exciting way to bring the community together, it symbolizes how a single act of kindness can create a ripple effect.

Students, families, and staff are encouraged to bring in their favorite cereals– whether it’s Cheerios, Lucky Charms, or something ‘grrreat!’ Every box helps ensure that no student goes without a snack when they need one.
