‘Hands Off!’ rally planned for Fredonia Saturday
A protest will be in Barker Commons in Fredonia on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The theme of the rally, “Hands Off!” is directed toward the ongoing power grab of the federal government, and the impact it will have on all aspects of U.S. citizens’ lives.
“All of us are affected, or will be soon, and this nationwide event is meant to show our elected officials that the American people do not agree with the way agency closings, budget cuts to agencies and nonprofits, and job firings are being done, and are concerned about the threats to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid,” organizers said. “It is meant to send the message that the American people do not like the way our pocketbooks and our savings are being jeopardized by tariffs and stock-market volatility.
“This event transcends party partisanship. No matter how you voted, or if you voted, you will be affected. Everyone who is worried about what is happening is encouraged to attend. The rally will present speakers on some of the aspects of our lives and those of our loved ones that will be impacted by the actions of the current administration. This will be a peaceful demonstration of the will of the people. No violence will be tolerated. Come help send the message.”
