Car accident leads to charges
Catherine J. Bonilla, 28, of Jamestown, was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana on Wednesday after a car versus tree accident that left a passenger with minor pain.
At approximately 5 p.m., Bonilla turned from Spoden Road onto Darby Switch Road in the town of Pomfret before losing control and crashing into a tree. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators also found Bonilla to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. After a blood sample was taken, it was determined that Bonilla was driving under the influence, and was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana. A unnamed 29-year-old female passenger complained of minor knee pain.
Bonilla will answer to the charges on June 27 in Pomfret Town Court.
