Area businessman facing multiple drug, stolen property charges

Wrong kind of deal

SHERIDAN — A Sheridan business owner is facing a slew of drug and stolen property charges.

Over the past several months the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the New York State Police Special Investigation Unit have conducted an investigation into a business, Pawn Starz, located at 3491 E. Main Road in the town of Sheridan. The investigation centered on the trafficking of narcotics and stolen property.

As a result of the investigation, agents of the task force and the state police executed a search warrant on Friday at approximately 11 a.m. A search warrant had been issued by the town of Sheridan Court along with arrest warrants for the owner of the business, James L. Langendorfer, 55, of the same address. At the time of the execution of the search warrant, Langendorfer was taken into custody on the arrest warrants.

During the course of the search warrant, officers said they seized a quantity of narcotics, marijuana and other contraband.

With the drug charges, Langendorfer has been charged with fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. With the stolen property charges, Langendorfer has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property (greater than $3,000), third-degree grand larceny, third-degree auto stripping, illegal possession of vehicle identification numbers, second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. He was also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
