Dunkirk pier project nears completion

“There’s a lot of excitement right now,” Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas told the OBSERVER this past week. The reason? The pier project is almost complete. “The paving should be finished … Tuesday, weather permitting,” he added.
The only thing that won’t be ready yet is the Pier 30 Cabana, Charles Pringle’s project, which just began laying its foundation past week. According to Rosas, there has fortunately been no major hiccups or issues as the project moved along. “The general contractor we hired was NOVA,” Rosas shared.
“They’re doing an excellent job and have been great to work with. We’ve been meeting every week.”
Rosas mentioned that there have also been many sub contractors brought in that have been equally good to work with. “We’ve had several different contractors that have been working there, all of them, true professionals,” he stated. “The contractors have been working hard to try and keep to the time line and they’re telling me that they’re ahead of schedule.” The deadline for the project is Aug. 10, but according to Rosas, they should be completely done before then. A ribbon cutting will be planned very soon after.
