Grape Festival, others canceled in Silver Creek
SILVER CREEK — Several summer events have been canceled or postponed. The announcement was made during the Silver Creek Village Board meeting. These include the Kiwanis Children’s Fair, Silver Creek-Hanover Garden Club’s Annual Garden Fair, and the Grape Festival.
The Kiwanis Children’s Fair has been postponed until Oct. 3 of this year. The Silver Creek-Hanover Garden Club’s Annual Garden fair has been canceled. “We look forward to resuming this annual event in 2021,” read Jeffrey Hornburg, mayor, from a letter from the club.
One of the largest cancellations in the area so far is the Festival of Grapes, normally held in late September. The festival has been canceled for 2020.
Mayor Hornburg read a letter from the organizers of the event. “We recognize this is a frightening time and that many in our community have faced both health and economic impacts. … In light of the pandemic situation, we regret that our 53rd Festival of Grapes event held in the Village of Silver Creek will be postponed until next year in September of 2021. … We recognize that it is no longer practical nor ethical to continue with our annual Festival of Grapes this year.”
