City mayor upbeat, in isolation for now
Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas is doing great.
In a phone interview after potentially being exposed to COVID-19 at a recent meeting, the mayor shared that he’s doing just fine and is currently asymptomatic.
“I received a call from the New York state Health Department in regards to contact tracing,” Rosas told the OBSERVER on Tuesday. “I was told that I recently attended a meeting and that an individual there had tested positive for COVID-19, so I was told to self-quarantine and that’s what I’m doing.”
On Tuesday, Rosas traveled to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo to be tested himself for the virus.
Rosas was informed late Tuesday he has tested negative.
“I tried to get tested somewhere in the county, but they were full so I went to ECMC and I should have the results back today, but at the latest tomorrow,” Rosas said. “Right now I feel great, I don’t have any symptoms and I’m just staying home because it’s the right thing to do.”
It was announced at the budget review meeting Monday night that Rosas would not be present due to possible exposure to COVID-19.
