MAYVILLE — Court Appointed Special Advocates of Chautauqua County will hold its 13th annual Come to the Table virtual auction from Friday through Thursday, May 20, at www.betterunite.com/CASAofChautauquaCounty.

Locally designed tablescapes will be auctioned to the highest bidder along with a service auction and basket giveaway. Registration is free. The public is invited.

Themed tables available for bidding this year include “an Heirloom Homestead,” “Activities for Children Ages 1-100,” “Summer Dinner Party,” “the Spa-aah’s Have It,” “Tea for All Seasons and Reasons,” “Table O’Beer,” and “Backyard Picnic.” Up for auction will also be a seven-night stay in a private condo in Myrtle Beach, a Leo diamond ring, set in white gold, included in the “Be the Sparkle in Someone’s Life” tablescape and a “Who Done It” murder mystery dinner experience, set at the 1860s Victorian “The Red House” in Cassadaga.

The service auction offers virtual bidders the opportunity to donate to one of the specific services of the CASA program and will consist of an hour of CASA advocacy for $15, adoption gift program for $25, lifebook program for $50, a month of CASA advocacy for $125 and a mega support package for $215.

“The service auction is a staple fundraiser during Come to the Table and offers our bidders the opportunity to directly benefit the children we serve,” said Kathy Park, CASA executive director. “Children in the foster care system are often moved from placement to placement, with few belongings. Our lifebook program, for example, is a storybook that our CASA children create to help them track special memories and important life details that they can take with them always.”

Leading up to the event, CASA will honor community members for their contribution and support to the program. The Donna Vanstrom Volunteer of the Year Award will be given to Debbie Phelps for her program volunteerism and advocacy. During the pandemic, Phelps found ways to meet with her children, connected families with needed resources and inspired all who were around her.

The Robert (Bob) Schnizler Justice for Children Award, formerly the Justice for Children Award, honors a person who has touched or played an essential role in improving the lives of children. The 2021 recipient is a former attorney for the child, Robert (Bob) Schnizler. The award will be presented to Schnizler’s family for his commitment to advocating for children and animals and their safety.

The Friends of the Community Award will be given to Wegmans for the years of commitment and support to the annual Come to the Table fundraiser and to CASA of Chautauqua.

The Mary Rogers Heart of CASA Hero Award, formerly the CASA Hero Award, will be given in honor of the late Mary Ann M. Brown Rogers, who passed away after her 29-year battle with breast cancer. Rogers was a teacher for 30 years at Sherman Central School and four years at Jamestown Community College before retiring. She was a community-driven and dedicated member of CASA, St. Isaac Joques Roman Catholic Church, Psalmody, the Theta Beta Sorority and Beta Sigma Phi (national).

A Mary Rogers Heart of CASA Memorial Fund has been established in her honor. The fund will support children’s education and extracurricular needs for those who may not have means or resources. The fund will provide children in kindergarten through 12th grades with money for educational resources, registrations, lessons, equipment, yearbooks, school outings and more. Money will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in learning more about the Mary Rogers Heart of CASA Memorial Fund should email casachautauqua@gmail.com.
