Horse show special for Fredonia grads
The Arabian Horse Association of New York held its annual Eastern Classic Arabian Horse Show at the Erie County Fairgrounds earlier this month. Ashley Holt and Alana Holt, both Fredonia High graduates, competed in the three-day competition and both were recognized for their efforts.
Alana showing on her horse SS Lady Madonna received blue ribbons in the Arabian Horse Hunter Pleasure Junior Owner Division and the Arabian Horse Hunt Seat Equitation Junior Division. Ashley teamed with her horse Earth, Wynd & Fire to claim the blue ribbon in the Arabian Horse Hunter Pleasure Adult Select Division.
On the final day of competition the championship classes were held and both Ashley and Alana continued their winning ways. Alana was selected as Grand Champion in the Arabian Horse Hunter Pleasure Open Division in which she competed against riders of all ages.
She then followed that up with another Grand Championship in the Arabian Horse Hunter Pleasure Junior Division. Ashley showed in the Arabian Horse Hunter Pleasure Adult Amateur Division and was selected as the Reserve Grand Champion.
Ashley and Alana train under the direction of Rachel Retaleato at Jaxson’s Sky Equestrian Center which is owned and operated by Olivia Van Schoonhoven in West Falls.
