Dunkirk High School Class of 1960 holds reunion
Members of the Dunkirk High School class of 1960 held their 60th class reunion on Aug. 6 and 7. The two-night event was kicked off with an informal get together at the Clarion Hotel. The following evening, a buffet dinner was held at Katarina’s upper banquet room at Demetris on the Lake where tables were beautifully adorned with white tablecloths, burgundy placemats and centerpieces of white and burgundy carnations and baby’s breath.
In addition to local classmates, out-of-town guests attended from Texas, Florida, Vermont, New Mexico, Ohio, Arizona, and Maryland.
Preceding dinner, Sandra Maslach Tapasto gave the invocation. Following dinner the program was opened with an introduction of committee members that included Karen Centanni Corsi, Samuel Delpopolo, Sally Dengler Smith and Karen Fredricks Waite. A moment of silence was then held with a reading of the names of deceased class members
Numerous classmates then recalled humorous high school stories and memories. Prizes were then awarded with Robert Nowak receiving the “most changed” award and Barbara Damon Newman receiving the “least changed” award.
As a remembrance of what is considered to be our last class reunion, each classmate was given a mini flashlight imprinted with “Dunkirk High School Class of 1960, 60th Reunion,” and a master list of living and deceased classmates.
