The Dunkirk Boardwalk and Pier received some spring cleaning Monday, courtesy of the Revitalize Dunkirk group.

Workers cleared a winter’s worth of debris from green areas, such as garden beds. They bagged up trash, mostly leaves, and raked out gardens to get them ready for springtime sprouting. There was also weeding, pruning and mulching in the mix.

About 22 people were expected to help, event organizer Mary Rees said in the morning. She said they were coming and going throughout the cleanup time, which was set from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers had to check in at a registration table to sign a liability waiver. Some of their equipment was provided by Revitalize Dunkirk, and some of it they brought themselves.

Starting at $2.99/week.
