Crews battle house fire in Westfield
WESTFIELD — A village home was heavily damaged in a fire that broke out Tuesday morning.
Firefighters from several departments were alerted around 8:30 a.m. to the blaze at 66 S. Portage St. Initial reports indicated that the fire started in the basement before spreading to the rest of the property. Westfield crews were assisted Tuesday by firefighters from Brocton, Portland, Stockton, Mayville, Ripley, Sherman, Ellery Center, Ashville and Kiantone, as well as volunteers from nearby Pennsylvania.
Crews remained on scene for several hours. There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the blaze was not known as of Tuesday afternoon.
