A recent evening featured the first opening reception for the Brocton Art Discovery program, allowing the 14 students who participated to show off their work to the community.

Brocton Art Discovery Coordinator Lucy Andrus wanted to offer her appreciation for all who helped with the program, including Tri-Church Parish, her students, and several others, and also explained that her program is open to anyone of any skill level.

“Anyone can make art,” said Andrus. “It’s an inborn, natural part of us. If you don’t think so, just look around your house when you decorate it, or when you dress up nice, or how you do your facial hair. … All of that is artistic.”

Refreshments were on hand for those who attended, and the event saw a pretty strong turnout from the community.

Those who came could also flex their creativity via a two-minute collage station that anyone could partake in. There was also a comment book for people to give feedback on anything, as well as sign ups to participate in the program in the future.

Starting at $2.99/week.
