At approximately 2:45 p.m. Friday afternoon, a vehicle struck a telephone pole along Route 5 in the town of Dunkirk, near Shorewood Country Club. According to emergency responders at the scene, an unidentified vehicle struck the pole causing it to collapse onto the road, then fled the scene. There were no injuries to report at the time. The accident caused the road to be temporarily shut down.
