Wdowiasz gets Democratic nod for Dunkirk mayor
Kate Wdowiasz has unofficially announced her candidacy for city mayor Wednesday.
Wdowiasz, the city of Dunkirk’s paralegal, was previously passed over for the Democrats’ mayoral nomination in favor of Bob George. But George quickly pulled back his candidacy, citing family concerns, and Wdowiasz took the nomination in a city Democratic committee meeting Tuesday.
Wednesday afternoon, Wdowiasz informed the OBSERVER of her nomination. She is working on a candidate’s statement, she said.
Wdowiasz hopes to take over the mayor’s chair from fellow Democrat Wilfred Rosas, who is not running again this fall after two terms in office.
