GOWANDA — When one door closes, another one opens. That was the case in Gowanda when the former Gowanda Ford dealership closed its doors in January.

Recently, Designer Pools in Gowanda purchased the former dealership location on Route 62 in the village with the intent to relocate from the business’ current location. Designer Pools has held the same location in the village for the past 41 years.

“We outgrew our present location,” said owner Norris Luther. “We needed more space to operate, more parking, more warehouse space, and this is a great fit.”

Luther became aware of the dealership’s closing and reached out to the owners directly. “I told them I wanted first dibs on the building. It’s a perfect location for a pool business,” Luther said. “Being on Route 62, it will also be a lot easier for people to find us who come in from out of town.”

Luther purchased the former dealership and plans to renovate the interior and exterior throughout the fall and early winter. Luther has set a target date of Jan. 1 for the opening of the new location. There are currently no plans in place for what will become of the current location, which will remain operational until the move has been completed.

The other Designer Pools locations in Fredonia and Jamestown will not be impacted by the move. The change of location is only related to the store at 10417 Maltbie Road in Gowanda, which will now relocate to 14650 US Route 62 in Gowanda.
