Positive reviews are sweet music in Silver Creek
SILVER CREEK — The village reported nothing but positive reviews for a few of its recent events.
The fireworks display on July 3 “went off great,” according to Mayor Jeff Hornburg. He noted the display lasted 20 minutes of continuous fireworks over Hideaway Bay. The village also celebrated its 175th anniversary with the dedication of two plaques to highlight the history of the village.
Music in the Park has been successful, as well, according to Village Trustee Marv Cummings. He noted the Classic Car Cruise-in with Crash Cadillac received “a lot of positive comments.”
Cummings also later reported a positive response to First Responders Night, which was rained out the first time and rescheduled to July 18, with Underground Stampede performing.
“It was great. We had a nice crowd come out to support the local first responders,” Cummings said. “I think they felt very honored and appreciated all the support.”
Next, Barnstorm will perform tonight with more concerts scheduled in the month of August.
“It’s been real positive. There’s been a pretty good showing of people down there,” Cummings said. He noted food trucks and vendors at the event have had success. Cummings also thanked Village Clerk Tom Postle, Mayor Hornburg, and the Department of Public Works for their support.
“I’ve received nothing but compliments for the program,” Hornburg noted.
Village Trustee Sandra Lindstrom added, “I heard a lot of positive comments about the Music in the Park and the fireworks.”
Lindstrom also credited the village’s recent investments in a Gaga ball pit and new playground equipment.
“The other night, watching those kids in that Gaga ball pit, they were having a blast. The same with the playground, those were great investments in my opinion,” Lindstrom said.
