Dunkirk Fire boat nears the pier Monday afternoon.

A 13-year-old boy has died in a drowning near Cedar Beach on Monday in Dunkirk.

City Fire Department officials, along with Dunkirk Police, Dunkirk Water Rescue Team, Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team, Alstar Ambulance, Chautauqua County Emergency Management Services, and the United States Coast Guard were notified the boy jumped into the water and did not resurface near outer break wall in Dunkirk around 4:20 p.m.

Rescue divers from city and county rescue teams entered the water and located the victim a short time later.

He was transported to the City Pier on Marine 1 and transferred to Brooks-TLC Hospital by Alstar Ambulance. No other information was provided by the department.
