County sales include Coburn Block

The Coburn Block on Central Avenue, Dunkirk, was sold for $785,000.

A historic building in downtown Dunkirk has changed ownership.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate transactions recorded in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the sales from May 1-10.

During that time period, 127 Central Ave. LLC of Tonawanda sold four parcels in the city of Dunkirk to Coburn Block, LLC for $785,000. The sale was signed by Allan B. Steinberg, manager. The addresses of the parcels were 123 Central Ave., 127 and 129 Central Ave., 131-133 Central Ave., and 135 Central Ave.

That is the location of a building commonly known as the Coburn Block. The building houses both businesses and apartments. Operating out of the building now is Julie’s Fish Market and Taqueria Mexicana. There is also an office sign for ZTS Development, which is owned by Steinberg.

In 2015, the Coburn Block had a partial collapse. At that time it was owned by Rural Ministries. No injuries were reported in the collapse.

By 2018, Rural Ministries, an inter-faith human service agency in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area, relocated to Washington Avenue, in the city. The organization then sold the Coburn Block.

The Coburn Block is one of the places where the city of Dunkirk is considering proposals using part of the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative which it was awarded from New York state.

In a separate sale, K&C Property Services, Inc. of Bemus Point sold 5006 Brown Road, Ellery to BP Endeavors, LLC of Warren, Pa. for $668,000. This is the location of Wildwood Acres Campground.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER reported in April that Wildwood Acres Campground was being sold after the new owners applied for and received a $100,000 loan from the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency.

Including the two sales previously mentioned, there were seven sales that were $250,000 or higher. The remaining five sales were as follows:
