Gowanda approves senior trip to New York City
GOWANDA — At a recent meeting of the Gowanda Board of Education, the Board welcomed a presentation from Gowanda High School students regarding the 2025 Senior Class Trip proposal.
The event would be a three-day trip to New York City from April 26-28. Students would visit Rockefeller Center and St. Patrick’s Cathedral on the opening day of the trip before having dinner on the observation level of the Empire State Building.
The second day of the trip would include a visit to Times Square, Wall Street, the Broadway theater district, and Chinatown. The group will also visit the Sept. 11 memorial, as well as a New York Yankees baseball game.
The final day of the trip would include a visit to Battery Park and a ride on the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, as well as Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn Heights, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Cost for the trip, including four chaperones, is $879 per student based on 25-29 students; $799 per student based on 30-34 students; $759 per student based on 35-39 students; and $719 per student based on 40-51 students. The Class of 2025 contains approximately 70 students, of which between 30-40 are expected to show strong interest in the trip.
The Board approved the trip proposal, while reserving the right to cancel in the event student health and safety becomes a concern.
The District also recently accepted several donations from the Gowanda Boosters, including $3,325 raised from a pancake breakfast to benefit the Gowanda Football Team. Other donations from the Gowanda Boosters include $500 to the High School Pep Band, $250 for the Class of 2025, and $250 for the Class of 2026.
