ERIE, Pa. — Fredonia High School represented itself well at a recent conference to discuss some of the most important issues the world is currently facing.

More than 40 students from Fredonia High School’s Model United Nations team attended the 72nd Annual Model UN Conference at Gannon University earlier this month. Led by advisers Patrick Newell and Thomas Donovan, the team engaged in debates, crafted resolutions, and built alliances with delegates from various schools, representing Fredonia with skill and diplomacy.

Leading up to the conference, each delegation wrote a position paper outlining their assigned country’s stance on global issues. This year, Fredonia submitted 15 position papers.

Since the start of the school year, the team has stayed after school every Friday to work on their research and writing. Their dedication was rewarded as the Norwegian Delegation to the Security Council, represented by Gracia Domenico and Charis LaBarr, received “Excellent” marks for their position paper, which earned third place in the competition.

Fredonia students were also recognized for their outstanding efforts in representing their countries at the conference.
