On a sweet track: Community spirit shines at Silver Creek event
The annual Track or Treat event, sponsored by the Silver Creek Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), brought the community together for an unforgettable night of Halloween fun and family friendly frights.
Held on a beautiful fall evening this past Tuesday, the event was free for all Silver Creek students and their families, welcoming over 550 trick-or-treaters who ventured out in costumes to enjoy the festivities.
With more than 150 volunteers from over 40 different clubs, teams, organizations, local businesses, school employees, and community members, “Track or Treat” created a memorable Halloween experience for children and families alike. Each group set up a decorated station along the Silver Creek School’s athletic track, enthusiastically handing out candy and adding to the festive atmosphere. Highlights included a haunted house put together by the Key Club and a thrilling “spooky bus” provided by the school’s transportation department, which left kids in awe with its eerie decorations and interactive displays. Many more community members who couldn’t attend also donated candy to pass out to the trick or treaters.
PTSA members were thrilled by the turnout and the support shown by the entire community. “Events like ‘Track or Treat’ really bring our community together, showing our children the strength of support and school spirit in Silver Creek,” said Bobbie Kilburn, 2024-2025 PTSA President.
As the PTSA looks to future events, community members and volunteers are already brainstorming how to make next year’s “Track or Treat” even more exciting. With the success of this year’s gathering, Silver Creek families can look forward to an even bigger and spookier celebration in 2025.
The mission of the Silver Creek PTSA is to “make every child’s potential a reality.” Community stakeholders are encouraged to join the PTSA for its monthly meetings, which take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Silver Creek High School Cafeteria. The PTSA welcomes stakeholders to share ideas, volunteer, and help make Silver Creek events even better for the children of the District.
