Search on for suspect in Fredonia armed robbery
Fredonia police and fire officials were seeking a suspect in an armed robbery on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. in the downtown district at 40 W. Main St. That is the location of Great Lakes Gold & Silver. One person was being treated for injuries at the time.
Police were searching for the individual around the area of Center Street and Forest Place. The last known location of the suspect was in the west parking lot. Dunkirk police were also believed to be assisting in the search.
About 15 minutes into the search, two females on Center Street told authorities they had seen an individual running to Barker Street toward the Canadaway Creek around 1:42 p.m. That’s where officers were headed.
The store has been in business since 2010. It purchases gold, platinum, coins, watches, diamonds and jewelry and claims to pay fair and high prices in cash. The shop says, through an online listing, that it has “thousands of satisfied customers, many of whom have been returning for years.”
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
