Silver Creek bids farewell to Metzger
SILVER CREEK — After approximately 30 years of service to the village of Silver Creek, Donna Metzger has officially resigned from the Planning Board. Her resignation was officially accepted at a recent meeting of the Silver Creek Board of Trustees.
Trustee Sandra Lindstrom joked she made the motion to approve Metzger’s resignation with reservations.
“Donna Metzger has always had the best interests of the village at heart,” Lindstrom said. “… She’s a very dedicated person and I think she’s always put forth her best efforts to make sure things went well. I’ll miss her.”
The Village Board also officially approved the renewal of a fire protection contract between the Town of Hanover and the Village of Silver Creek through Dec. 31, 2025. The Village will receive $72,723 from the Town as stated in the agreement.
The annual preventative maintenance agreement with Key Power Systems, Inc., for the municipal building generator was also approved at a cost of $600. Also of note, a budget transfer of $24,853 from an equipment replacement reserve account was approved for the purchase of a 3-wheel fork truck from JIT Toyota-Lift.
Trustee Dwayne Haskins commended the village employees who addressed a recent water main break on Hanover Road. “They did a great job working together and fixing the problem,” Haskins said.
Deputy Mayor Kathy Tampio recognized February as Black History Month at the recent meeting. Tampio ran the meeting in the absence of Mayor Jeff Hornburg, who was absent due to illness.
The Hanover Garden Club will host its annual Garden Faire over two days in May, beginning on May 16 from 4 to 7 p.m., and on May 17 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m., at the Village Park areas and ballpark pavilion.
The next Mobile Food Pantry event, sponsored by the Silver Creek Food Pantry, the Village of Silver Creek, and Feedmore WNY, will be on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the village municipal parking lot. The event is free of charge to residents of Silver Creek and other nearby communities.
The next meeting of the Silver Creek Village Board has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. due to Presidents’ Day falling on the date of the previously scheduled meeting the night prior.
