7 Brew eyes review; Starbucks construction proceeds

7 Brew Coffee has met the initial requirements to warrant a Planning Board review to move forward with its proposal. 7 Brew Coffee presented to the Town Board this past fall regarding its interest in the Town. A Planning Board meeting will be this month.
7 Brew is eyeing a location in Plaza 59 in the Town of Dunkirk, located on Bennett Road next to the thruway entrance. The same plaza recently welcomed Planet Fitness and Popeyes.
If approved by the Town Board, the former Lightning Lube building, which has been vacant for many years, would be demolished and a new building will take its place. The 7 Brew location would be a prefabricated building, which could be installed and hooked up within days after the preparation for the site is completed. The business would supply 45-50 jobs once operational.
Just a mile away, Starbucks is moving forward with its drive-through location in the Tops Plaza at the former AT&T building. Inspection of the framing and underground work for the new business was completed. A contractor has been tasked with development of the interior of the building.

Also of note, AT&T has relocated within the Tops Plaza and was issued a certificate of occupancy following completion of a build-out. Lakeside Park Solar has requested the final permit to proceed with the Board-approved Dunkirk Solar 1 and Solar 2 projects.
In other Town of Dunkirk business, the Town’s Justice Court handled a total of 267 cases in the month of January, amounting to a total of $22,149 collected and turned over to the Town for distribution. The Town Clerk’s Office collected $3,230 in the month of January, including $2,550 in zoning fees.
Council member Jean Crane recently met with two residents of the Shorewood Water District as they signed easements to allow the capital project to proceed. The amount of outstanding easements is now down to single digits.
The Town also approved the purchase of a new plow blade at the recommendation of Highway Superintendent Jeff Feinen at a cost of $1,150 plus shipping.

The next meeting of the Dunkirk Town Board is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 at 5:30 p.m., one week later than usual to accommodate travel schedules of Board members.
