New agreement reached to end corrections officer strikes

Corrections officers stand near the Lakeview Shock Facility near Brocton.

New York State Department Department of Correctional and Community Supervision reported Saturday evening an agreement has been reached in the wildcat strikes taking place at 32 facilities.

In an email, DOCCS said the parties reached a mutual pact that will return staff to work on Monday at 6:45 a.m.

Signed Saturday, the agreement includes DOCCS, the New York State Corrections Officer and Police Benevolent Association Inc. union and the Office of Employees Relations.

The agreement will take effect upon at least 85 percent of staff returning to work. No strike penalties have been waived in the agreement.

Addressed in the five-page document are staffing levels, the HALT Act — which remains suspended for the time being — as well as overtime.

A copy of the agreement can be found at https://doccs.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2025/03/moa-doccs-nyscopba-3.8.2025.pdf

Starting at $2.99/week.
