Team members from Purina in Dunkirk recently presented a $25,000 donation to leaders of Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue to support infrastructure for a new shelter that will serve dogs in need across the region.
The donation was delivered through the Purina Trust Fund, which recognizes organizations working to positively impact communities where Purina operates.
Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue is focused on rescuing and providing sanctuary for stray and abandoned dogs and puppies, with a goal of securing permanent, loving homes for each one. The new facility will house up to 17 dogs and include a meet-and-greet area, grooming and laundry rooms, a kitchen, lobby, office, and conference room. It will also be ADA-compliant and meet modern standards for animal care and safety.
“This support from Purina comes at a critical time for us. It allows us to move forward with essential infrastructure for our new shelter, laying the groundwork for a safe, modern space where dogs can recover, thrive, and find their forever homes,” said Jordon Nichols, executive director of Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue.
“Supporting Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue is a natural extension of what we believe in at Purina — nurturing the pet-human bond and strengthening the communities where we live and work,” said Anthony De La O, Purina Dunkirk factory manager. “We’re proud to play a role in bringing people and pets together.”
In the last five years, Purina has contributed more than $150 million to organizations focused on making a difference for pets, people and the planet. The Purina Dunkirk factory employs more than 500 local associates. To learn more about causes Purina supports, visit purina.com/partnerships.
