Richard Kennedy
Richard C. Kennedy, 86, of Stockton, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility in Gerry, NY, with his loving family by his side. Richard was born January 19, 1933 in Rochester, NY a son to the late Calder and Doris (Rogers) Kennedy. He was a 1951 graduate of Wilson Central High School and then went on to serve his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his time of service, he became an employee with Niagara Mohawk at the Schoellkopf Power Station above the Niagara Gorge near the American Falls where station 3B and 3C collapsed into the river in 1956, Dick continued working at that facility until 1960-61 when he moved to Fredonia and continued his career with the company having multiple jobs concluding as a Sub-Station Foreman and retiring from the Fredonia, NY office on Water St. January 1, 1993 after 41 years of dedicated service. Dick was a fifty-two year life member of the Stockton Volunteer Fire Dept. and a 10 year member of the Red Cross where he traveled to assist those in need, including
Hurricane Katrina and to New York City after the 9-11 event. He also had been Fire Commissioner of the Stockton Fire Dept. and was a member of the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 of Cassadaga, NY. Richard also
belonged to and was President of the Niagara Mohawk Retiree’s Club and was a member of the Stockton Community Church where he served as trustee for 40 years. Richard was also a trustee of the Mary Seymore Library in Stockton and a member of the Antique Tractor Club. He was an electrician and taught electrical skills to the the 4-H. Besides his love for his family, Richard loved tinkering in his garage and had 12 chainsaws, six of which he insisted have mates. Dick loved to assist the Amish by transporting them and materials to wherever they needed to go. He also loved Hershey’s Chocolate bars and always had some in his glove box. Richard is survived by
his loving wife; Carrol (Wood) whom he married on December 29, 1978, five sons; Daniel (Mary) Kennedy, Scott (Debbie) Kennedy, David (Noppawan) Kennedy, Seth (Kris) Kennedy and Richard (Nanette) Kilmer and three daughters; Patty (Patrick) Ambrose, Pam Kanicki and Dorene Farnham, one sister Marjorie (the late Harold) Neal, 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Stockton Community Church 4554 Rail-
road Ave. Stockton, N.Y. at 11 am on Saturday November 30, 2019 with the Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded Richard by the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 following the Service. Family and friends are invited to call at the MORSE Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave. Brocton, New York from 3-7 pm on Friday November 29, 2019. Private Burial will take place in Stockton Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers.
