David M. "Wally" Ott
David M. “Wally” Ott, 63, of Dunkirk died Sunday March 29, 2020 in his home following a brief illness.
He was born May 31, 1956 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Rita (Leckliter) Ott and William F. Ott Sr.
In 1974 he began his apprenticeship as a bricklayer and craftsman for the International and Allied Craft Workers Local 3. As a skilled mason he worked on numerous buildings in the area. In November of 1974 he joined Hose Company No. 3.
As a lifelong resident of Dunkirk he was a member of many social clubs including Exempt Volunteer Firemen’s Association, First Ward Falcon Club, Fourth Ward Falcon Club, and World War II Vets. Wally enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and was a devoted Cleveland Browns, New York Yankees, and Jeff Gordon fan.
Survivors include three sons, David (Wendy) Ott of Angola, Thomas (Cassandra) Ott of Roanoke, VA, and Joseph (Bri) Ott of Scottsdale, AZ; one daughter, Carrie (Brain) Bjugstad of San Antonio, TX; four grandsons, David M. Ott III, William Ott, Greyson Ott, and Brandon Bjugstad; three grand-daughters, Brianna Willis, Addison Ott, and Emma Ott; one brother, Daniel Ott of Dunkirk; one sister, Karen (Daniel) Willis of Dunkirk; sister in law, Diane Ott of Fredonia; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
