Richard “Ricky” D. Spoon
WESTFIELD — Richard “Ricky” D. Spoon, 30, of Mayville, formerly of Westfield, passed away unexpectedly while participating in a fitness challenge in Chino, Calif.
He was born Aug. 22, 1989, in Dunkirk, N.Y., the son of Dennis and Carol (Kimbel) Spoon.
Ricky was a graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School class of 2007. He then went on to graduate from Southeast Lineman Training Center. Ricky worked as a lineman with National Grid in Stow, N.Y.
Ricky was a health and fitness enthusiast participating in weightlifting, competing in fitness challenges and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery. Ricky loved to travel the world with his wife, Kaitlin, as well as going on hiking adventures with his wife and dog, Charlie. Most of all he loved spending time with family and was the “best uncle” to his nieces and nephews. His motto was always to live a life worth living and make the most of every day.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Kaitlin (Bova) Spoon, whom he married Aug. 26, 2017 in Angola, N.Y.; their unborn child and four legged pal, Charlie; his parents, Dennis and Carol Spoon of Sinclairville, N.Y.; two sisters: Jenna Spoon of Sinclairville, N.Y., and Kassie (Brent) Goff of Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers: Robert (Dena) Spoon of Mayville, N.Y., and Justin (Jaci) Spoon of Kennedy, N.Y.; his grandfather, Richard Kimbel; aunts: Paula (Scott) Rath, Gloria Spoon, Bonnie Kinney, Cheryl (Meryl) Truesdail and Beverly (Ken) Emory; uncles: Jeff Kimbel, Jon Kimbel, and Robert (Connie) Spoon; his father and mother in-law, Martin and Barbara Bova; two sister in-laws: Jennifer (David) Miller and Madeline (Thomas) Patterson; 12 nieces and nephews who all thought the world of him; Hunter, Nicholas and Brayden Goff, Riley and Haylie Spoon, Luke and Jenna Waters, Khloey and David Miller, Thomas, Claire and Wyatt Patterson; many cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grand- parents, Robert and Evelyn Spoon.
All services will be private. A celebration of life will take place at a later time and place to be determined.
