Thomas W. Merrill

He was born June 26,1955, in Gowanda, N.Y., the son of the late George and Evelyn (Bangle) Merrill.

Mr. Merrill was a carpenter and locksmith with NYS Corrections since 1984, and had worked at Gowanda, Collins, and Lakeview. He was an avid and talented fly fisherman, hunter, and gardener. When not on the stream or in the woods, he maintained a lifelong love of playing guitar and 70s classic rock.

He is survived by Brenda, his wife of 38 years, whom he married in 1983; two daughters: Kimberly Merrill of Perrysburg, N.Y., and Michelle Merrill of Gowanda, N.Y.; and his sister, Lori Bell of Dallas, Ga. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sandra Dix of Forestville, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews, and William “Doc” Glazier of Hiram, Ga.

Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, from 4-7 p.m., at Mentley Funeral Home Inc. (105 East Main Street in Gowanda, NY).

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the same location.

Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice
