Anthony Sellari

Anthony Sellari, 85, of Fredonia, N.Y., died on March 23, 2022, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y. He was born in Fredonia, N.Y., on Dec. 3, 1936, to the late Anthony and Josephine (St. George) Sellari.

He was educated through the Fredonia School and was proud to serve in the U.S. Air Force to protect and preserve our Country’s freedoms. On Sept. 6, 1958, at St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia, N.Y., Anthony married the love of his life, Maria Castlzi and they recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Together, they raised their four children, Anthony, David, Paul, and Josie.

During his lifetime, Anthony pursued many career options, including selling real estate with D&F Real Estate and life and health insurance through the Mutual of Omaha in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. He was employed as a construction worker and foreman, which enabled him to be a member of the Cement and Brick Layers Unions of Erie, Pa., as well as, the Brick Layers Unions of both Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Anthony was also noted for his professional masonry work in the area.

He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Parish. Anthony was a life long member of the Fredonia Beaver Club by being president and director, coordinating various aspects of the Club and being building project supervisor. He was a member of the Moose Club – L.O.O.M. 89 and president of the Fredonia, Little and Senior Leagues. In 1970, Anthony, who belonged to the Jaycees for 8 years, received the honor of Jaycee of the Year Award.

Anthony is survived by his wife, Maria Castlzi Sellari; and his children: Anthony (Karen) Sellari, David (Lisa) Sellari, Paul Sellari, and Josie (John) Swanson. He is further survived by his sisters, Lucy (Donald) Laratunda and Marie (Sam) Tabone. Anthony will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jessica, Justine, Tayler, Ashli, David, Dalton, Hannah, Adam, and 2 great grandchildren.

An 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Church in Fredonia, NY, with the Reverend Joseph Walter officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass and may call at the Funeral Home on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 4-8 p.m.

All arrangements have been entrusted to FAN-TAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, NY.

Interment will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Fredonia, N.Y.
