David A. Groesch
David A. Groesch passed away on March 16, 2022, at the age of 57, in Buffalo.
His battle with cancer over the last year showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the illness, David continued to inspire and share his humor until the end.
He was born Nov. 20, 1964, in Westfield, son of the late Kay (Schribner) and Rorbert Groesch, brother to Sue.
From a young age, David was a Grateful Dead enthusiast and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, always sporting black and gold or tie-dye, while jamming to their music.
Beginning in 1995, he began volunteering as a firefighter for the Cassadaga Valley Fire Department, where he helped support the town he called home for so many years.
David met the love of his life, Paula, on a blind date at a summer picnic near his home followed by a competitive volleyball game. It was love at first sight, and she quickly became his life long teammate. Together, they had one child, Natalie and raised Paula’s two sons: James and Andrew.
In recent years, he cherished becoming a Papa to his grandson, Axl.
Services will be held at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., in Dunkirk Sunday from 2-5pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or Sadie’s Safe Harbor Canine Rescue.
