Paul V. Miller
FORESTVILLE — Paul V. Miller, 87, of South Roberts Road, Forestville, died Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, following a short illness.
He was born in Dunkirk on Dec. 29, 1934, the son of the late James L. and Dorothy (Bohn) Miller.
Paul was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s Catholic School, Dunkirk, Class of 1952, served in the New York National Guard for three years, worked for the former Great Lakes Color Printing of Dunkirk for 20 years and worked in the food service Maintenance for SUNY at Fredonia, for 14 years. He was a member of Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel St. Rose of Lima Church, Forestville, a social and former active member of Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department and the First Ward Falcon Club, Dunkirk. Paul was a hardworking and devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie A. (White) Miller of Forestville, whom he married on Nov. 27, 1954, in the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Dunkirk; three daughters: Mary Jo (James) Travis, Cheryl (Pat) Burns and Anne (Chris Mooney) Miller; five sons: Paul V. Miller Jr., Jeff (Jackie) Miller, Douglas (Holly) Miller, Gary (Anne) Miller and Andrew (Kait) Miller; two sisters: Margaret (Harold) Emerling and Katherine (Douglas) Hosterman; and a brother, Peter Miller. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, over 20 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Martin “Marty” Miller , who died Feb. 15, 2008; five sisters: Jean Brown, Jacquelline Schrantz, Virginia Pawlak, Dorothea Riley, an infant sister, Helen Miller; and four brothers: Daniel, James, Rev. Thomas and David Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m. from Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel St. Rose of Lima Church, Center Street, Forestville, with the Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum, Dunkirk.
The family suggests memorials may be made either to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505 or to the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 122, Sheridan, NY 14135.
