Joseph W. Majka

Joseph W. Majka, 74, peacefully passed away at his residence in Dunkirk, N.Y., on Nov. 9, 2022. He was born in Dunkirk, N.Y., on Jan.y 19, 1948, to the late Anthony and Theresa (Mazurek) Majka

He was an alumni of Dunkirk High School and served in the U.S. Army, from 1965-68, during the Vietnam War Conflict and then, in the Reserves until 1971.

On Oct. 8, 1983, Joseph married the late Diana (Christopher) Majka, Joseph had two sons: Joseph W. Majka II, and the late Jason Majka. Also a stepdaughter, Gina (Ken) Drummond of Lake View, N.Y.

During his lifetime, Joseph worked for True Temper in Dunkirk, N.Y., and later, for Dunkirk Specialty Steel. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his long time friend, Garry Sutton.

Joseph had been a member of the American Legion Post 62, Dunkirk Firemen’s Exempts, and the Moniuszko Social Club.

Besides his son, Joseph and stepdaughter, Gina, Joseph is survived by his grandchildren: Jordyn and Kyler Majka and step grandchildren: Kelsey (Kyle) Gawrowski and Riley Drummond, both of Lake View, N.Y. He is further survived by his siblings: Jean Jagoda of Dunkirk, N.Y., and James (Mary) Majka of Panama City, Fla.

A graveyard service will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Sheridan, N.Y. The date and time will be announced by the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 E. Main St., Fredonia, N.Y.
