Albert F. Brinkerhoff
Conesus Lake: Albert Frank Brinkerhoff passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 10, 2023 at the age of 82. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert S. and Cora Will Brinkerhoff of Dunkirk, NY and nephew, State Trooper, David C. Brinkerhoff.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary, sons Bert (Mary Beth) of Avon, Todd (Rita) of Springwater, grandchildren Mariel, Grace and William, his brothers Roy (Ruth) of Williamsville and Richard (Linda) of Trinity, Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bert lived a life serving others and was a volunteer firefighter for most of his life wherever he and Mary made their home. For many years he was a NYS Fire Instructor and served as a Fire Commissioner for the Town of Livonia.
While teaching public grade schools he was a high school football coach for several years. In 1974 Bert and Mary moved their family to Avon and Bert taught for 25 years at the NYS School at Industry in Rush. He taught math and science, and used his carpentry skills to teach students these same skills during the summer programs. He built his own home in Avon and with the help of his sons, totally renovated his home on Conesus Lake.
He enjoyed a second career with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department spending many years as the Sergeant of the Marine Patrol and was a NYS Boating Safety Instructor. He loved being on the water whether it was teaching boating safety, helping boaters or just chatting with others enjoying the lake.
His biggest joy was his family. He never missed his sons or grandchildren’s ball games, school concerts, and dance recitals. He loved spending time on the lake driving the boat with the family, teaching his grandchildren to drive all watercraft, fishing, tubing or just sitting on the porch enjoying a cold beverage. Bert was a very engaging person who loved good jokes, laughing and debating with his many friends.
Dear family, friends and Hospice aides provided much loving care, companionship and love during his journey through Alzheimer’s which he accepted and lived with grace.
