Dorothy M. Edington

Dorothy was born Feb. 5, 1932, in Napoli, NY the daughter of Fred and Evelyn (Bozworth) Oakes.

Dorothy married Robert L. Edington in Salamanca, NY on January 19, 1953. Robert passed away Jan. 5, 2015.

Dorothy was baptized into the Cherry Creek Assembly of God Church in the 1970s, while living in Gowanda she attended the Gowanda Free Methodist Church. She moved to her son Robert and wife Pam’s residence in Arizona the summer of 2020 with her and her husbands faithful canine companion Ginger when her health started to fail, while there and when she was able she attended the Tri-City Baptist Church in Chandler, Az.

Survivors include children; Robert Jr. (Pamela) Edington of Chandler, AZ. , Dianna (Richard) Edington Wakefield of Titusville, Pa and Richard (Tracey) Edington of Gowanda.

Dorothy is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband Robert Sr. of 62 years Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter Cathy Philbrick Riley Nagel (Jan 2005) and a brother Fred D. Oakes.

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, where funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery Gowanda where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her husband. The Rev. Kenneth Pratt is officiating.
