Robert E. Peterson, age 80, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his residence with his family by his side in Bowling Green, KY.

The Dunkirk, New York native was born July 29, 1942 to the late August and Rita (Lehnen) Peterson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving canines, Jake, Barney, Ike, and Gracie Kate.

He was a retired mailman from The United States Postal Service. He was a life member of Dunkirk Lakeside Club and First Ward Falcon Club. He was also a member of the Fourth Ward Falcon Club and The American Legion Post 59. He was an avid Drum and Bugle Corps fan throughout his entire life, always claiming to bleed Blue Devil Blue. He was also a founding member of The Dunkirk Patriots Drum & Bugle Corps.

Bob shared a love of Christmas Decorating with his son, Tim. They created multiple musical light displays throughout the years in Dunkirk and here in Kentucky.

He proudly served his country in The United States Army from 1964 until 1966. He was stationed at Bad Kreuznach, Germany.

He had a love for birding and was a member of The Lake Erie Bird Club. He was also an avid Rail Fan, Cleveland Browns and Indians Fan. We cannot forget Francis Albert Sinatra (FAS-FAN).

His survivors include his wife of nearly 52 years, Jeannine M. Peterson; his son, Timothy Peterson (April M.); and his sister, Barbara Kane (the late Edward Kane).

A private entombment will be held at a later date at Willowbrook Park Cemetery in Dunkirk.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Robert’s memory may be made to The Lakeshore Humane Society in Dunkirk, and/or The Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society.
