David (Dave) C. Miller

David (Dave) C. Miller passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was 80.

Born on Feb. 12, 1943, Dave was the son of the late Arthur (Bud) and Virginia (Ginny) Miller.

Dave attended the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo, Ohio after graduating from Brocton Central School. He worked as a meat cutter at several local grocery stores including Cave’s Market for 10 years before he and his wife Trina opened Miller’s Market in Portland, NY in 1972. Dave retired in 2009 after 35-plus years. A lifelong resident of Brocton, when Dave wasn’t working at the store, he enjoyed spending time with family, the company of his canine friends, playing piano and going to Lake Erie.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Trina (Crandle) Miller; three sons, Dean Miller, David

Miller Jr., and Gregory Miller; two brothers, Gary Miller and Arthur (Sandy) Miller Jr; and 17 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Robert Miller and Dale Miller and

sister-in-law Linda Miller (Dale).

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at the Portland Congregational Church, 8649 Church St., Portland, N.Y., from 10 a.m. until the time of services there at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Josh Ehmke officiating. Private burial will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Dave can be made to the Portland Congregational Church, 8649 Church St., Portland, NY 14769.
