PORTLAND — Frank J. Leone of Portland, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2023, with his loving family by his side following a long and brave battle with esophageal cancer at the age of 73.

Frank was born on January 26, 1950, to Frank S and Mary (Noto) Leone in Dunkirk, N.Y.

He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1968 and completed Bryant & Stratton before proudly serving his county in the U.S. Navy from 1970-1974. Frank married Claudia (Sobecky) Leone on June 25, 1977.

Frank grew up in Fredonia, N.Y. at his parent’s grocery store; he was well known to by people. He worked at various steel plants through the years including True Temper and Al-Tech, where he forged steel and lifelong friendships.

In 2012, Frank retired from Carriage House as a Production Supervisor. Frank will be remembered for his never-ending storytelling and his incredible sense of humor. He was also a passionate lover of classic black and white films and rock and roll. He enjoyed exploring endless roads throughout the country on his Triumph Rocket 3 Motorcycle with Claudia. When not on his motorcycle, Frank could be found tinkering in the yard, fixing tractors and lawn mowers, logging trees, and spending time on his porch or near his pond with his loving wife Claudia and their beloved dog ‘Bazil’. Married for 45 loving years, Frank and Claudia were known to be best friends, each other’s truest supporters and loved trying new restaurants with friends and family.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Claudia; daughter Emily Leone of Kenmore, son Frank Leone Jr. and wife Michelle of Memphis, Tenn.; brother Vincent Leone of McKinney Texas; nieces Brenda Shipley of Rowlett Texas and Kara Leone of Dallas, Texas.

A celebration of life is being planned for a date later this summer at an outdoor venue intended to honor his memory and his love of the outdoors.

Funeral arrangements are being cared for and provided by the Morse Funeral Home, 51 Highland Ave., Brocton, NY 14716.
