Gregory J. Maley

Born in Poughkeepsie, NY on Aug. 1, 1957, he was the son of the late Gerald and Mabel (Hensley) Maley. Greg graduated from John Jay High School in Fishkill,NY, Class of ’75. He went on to Clarkson University in Potsdam,NY where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering in 1979. After college he entered the Federal Government workforce with the Department of Navy. As a propulsion/rocket motor engineer, Greg worked at the headquarters Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVEA) in Arlington , Va, and at NAVSEA Field Activities in Indian Head, MD. and Corona, CA. He travelled around the world supporting Navy requirements. His work career spanned nearly 35 years before his retirement in 2013.

Greg married the love of his life, Gail M. Rote in LasVegas, NV, at the Graceland Chapel to the tunes of Elvis. Greg enjoyed wine making (a hobby he picked up from his father in law). He also was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed stock trading . He was a good man with a sense of humor, kind heart and caring nature. He loved being with friends over a good dinner and great conversation .

Besides his wife Gail, Greg is survived by his brother Michael (Robin) Maley of TX. and sister Jill (Kurt) Rauch of Maine; brothers-in-laws: Frank (Diana) Rote of CA., Ronald (Vicki) Rote of PA. , sister-in-law Ann (late Rudy) Rote of MD. and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends .

Besides his parents, Greg was preceded in death by a baby brother Glen Maley.

As per Greg’s wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date . Arrangements are by the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a local charity of one’s choice.
