Rosemarie (Dolly) Burlett

Rosemarie (Dolly) Burlett, of Fredonia, NY, died peacefully on July 17, 2023. She was 92 years old. She was born on Dec. 29, 1930 in Fredonia, NY, to the late Michael and Cecelia (Wrobleski) Lemanski. Dolly was married to the late Richard W. Burlett on Aug. 14, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Church in Fredonia where they were life long members. They had celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. Dolly attend Fredonia Schools. She worked as a waitress at Gangi’s Restaurant and later a cashier at the Acme Market at 12 Center St. in Fredonia, NY. When Dolly and Richard moved to Marilla, NY, she was the head cook at the Elmwood Franklin Elementary School in Buffalo, NY for 9 years. Upon their return to Fredonia, she used her cooking skills at the BOCES kitchen. When officially retired, Dolly and Richard began growing tomatoes and selling them and other vegetables at their roadside stand. They gained numerous loyal customers and friends through the years.

Dolly was past president of the Gordon Scott VFW Auxillary Post #1395, past president of the Chautauqua County VFW (1967-1968, a life member of the VFW Auxillary Post #9746 in Mayville, NY, a life member of the Fredonia Beaver Club, a member of the American Legion Post #1280 in Cassadaga, NY, and a social member of the VFW #6390 in Sheridan, NY.

Dolly is survived by two sons, (Rick and wife, Francella) and Alan K. Burlett; grandchildren, Adam Abraham (Annelise) and Sophia; great grand children, Matten, Maxton, Elia, Zoie, Ellie, Abram, Apollo, and Ravi Arjan Burlett; nephews, William F. Burlett ,and Scott Lemanski and niece, Kimberly Burlett, and many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Richard, Dolly was predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Lemanski Barabaza(children Barbara, John, and James) and three brothers, Leonard (Shirley and children) Michael (son, Joseph) and Richard (Kathy), brothers-in-laws, James (Frances) and Robert (R. (Marjory) Burlett, sister-in-law, Patricia Lemanski, granddaughter, Mary Ann Metro, and nephew, James R. Burlett.

Donations to the Chautauqua County Hospice in Lakewood, NY , in her memory,would be greatly appreciated.

Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Fredonia, NY.

Calling hours will be Friday, July 21, 2023, from 4-7 PM, at the FANTAUZZI FUNERAL HOME, 82 East Main Street, Fredonia, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, at St. Joseph’s Church in Fredonia.
