Emma J. Strain, a cherished matriarch, and longtime Ripley native, peacefully passed away onOctober 22, 2024, at age 98 in Westfield, NY.
Born in Ripley, NY, on May 15, 1926, to Raymond and Laura (Sawin) Abbey,
Emma’s compassion and resilience were her hallmarks from the beginning. She was the loving wife of the late DonaldStrain and the guiding light for her family, including her children Laura (Tim) Farnham and Edward (Janet) Strain, daughter- in-law Diane Strain, her cherished grandchildren Timothy, Donald (Brenda), Beth, and Lee (Penny), along with eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her son Frank Strain predeceased her along with her devoted parents and husband.
A gifted seamstress, Emma graced the Westfield sewing factory with her talents, and her creative spirit shone through her passion for working on plastic canvas. Above all, the joy of her life wasspending time with her family, ensuring each moment was woven with love and care.Emma J. Strain’s legacy is a tapestry of dedication, warmth, and unconditional love–a legacythat will continue to comfort and inspire her family for generations to come.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
