Robert O. Mourer Jr.
Robert O. Mourer Jr., 79, of Fredonia, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo.
Born in Great Falls, Montana on November 11, 1944, Husband of Karen (Saden) Mourer and son of the late Robert O. Mourer Sr. and Concetta (Glorioso) Mourer.
Robert graduated from Fredonia High School and was a star athlete in Track and Field and held many school records. After High School, Robert joined the United States Navy serving from 1963-1965. He was stationed in Rhode Island and Virginia. Following his time in Active Duty, he went on to serve in the US Naval and Air Force Reserves until 1975.
Over the years, Robert worked at Tops Markets and ultimately retired from National Fuel as a Service Technician. In retirement, he drove buses for Fredonia State University.
In his free time, Robert played trumpet for the Fredonia Fire Department Vanguards and he was also a Volunteer Fireman for the M.M. Fenner Hose Company of the Fredonia Fire Department.
Robert is remembered as a dedicated family man whose kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is also known for his beautiful voice, which combined with his trademark whistle.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Karen E. (Saden) Mourer, whom he married on November 11, 1977. Children Robert P. Mourer of Tarpon Springs, FL, Christopher R. (Lori) Mourer of Pittsburgh, PA, Debbie L. (Bryor) Lewis of Elk Grove, CA, Timothy M. (Marjorie) Mourer of Cocoa, FL, and Ryan O. (Jaime) Mourer of Fredonia, NY. Grandchildren Jade, Taylor, Dylan, Brooke, Bryor, Riley, Shane, Anthony, Tristan, and Elizabeth. Greatgrandchilden James and Olivia and a sister, Deborah Mourer.
Preceding Robert includes his parents Robert O. Mourer Sr. and Concetta (Glorioso) Mourer and a brother, James Mourer.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Fredonia. Military Honors will be conducted by the Dunkirk Joint Veteran Council immediately following the Mass. Interment in Private. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
