Judith Anne Thomas Reynolds
The family of Judith Anne Thomas Reynolds of Fredonia, New York is saddened to announce her passing on November 16, 2024 at the age of 88 years.
Born April 11, 1936, the younger daughter of William Thomas and Margaret (Armstrong) Thomas, Judy was raised in Farrell, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Farrell High School and then from Marietta College in Ohio where she met her future husband, Harold Reynolds, whom she married in June of 1959.
Judy was a beloved mother, friend, teacher. She taught English and Spanish at Fredonia Middle School from 1976 to 2001. Judy could go nowhere without running into a former student who always said what an unforgettable teacher she was A gifted seamstress, she designed and made the costumes for the high school musicals for many years. She was a devoted fifty-year member of Trinity Episcopal Church where she was the Junior Choir Director, member of the Vestry and the Altar Guild. Retirement didn’t slow her down. She was a fixture in book club, antique club, bridge club, and the Happy Hoofers walking group. She loved musicals and had season tickets to Shea’s for twenty years. Judy was a gifted pianist, and her love of music led her to play percussion in the Fredonia State New Horizon Band. She was very active in the League of Women Voters, where she often moderated local political debates. Judy loved life. She loved Christmas, and her house was always decorated to the hilt. She loved to dance, paint, travel, entertain, drink champagne and the color purple. Most of all, Judy loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joan Thomas Hopper, and former spouse, Harold.
Judy is survived by her children: Jody Green (Greg), Kelley Reynolds, Scott Reynolds (Janet Schwerk), and Todd Reynolds (Gina); her grandchildren: Megan Reynolds, Luke Reynolds (Ashley), Amanda Green (Mike Brungardt), Matthew Reynolds, Molly Reynolds, and Mark Reynolds, and her six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Judy’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, (St. Jude.org) or the Covenant House, (covenanthouse.org)
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 20 at 11:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Day Street, Fredonia.
