Ada Rivera

Dunkirk — Ada Rivera, 68, of Dunkirk, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024 at home. Born on March 17, 1956 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, wife of Antonio Rivera and daughter of the late Miguel Fred Lopez and Natividad Morales Santiago.

Ada dedicated many years of her life to serving as the head cook for Agri-Business Child Development (ABCD) in Fredonia, where she was known not only for her culinary skills but also for the warmth and love she infused into every meal she prepared. She ultimately retired from ABCD.

Ada was more than just a talented cook; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Those who knew her described her as a person who could exhibit both firmness and tenderness, knowing exactly what you needed to hear and when you needed to hear it. Her caring nature and unwavering support left a lasting impact on her family and friends.

Ada enjoyed several hobbies that brought her joy and fulfillment. She had a passion for gardening, particularly cultivating beautiful flowers, and she found immense pleasure in baking and making limber. Her love for cooking extended beyond her career, as she delighted in preparing meals for family gatherings and sharing her culinary creations with those around her. She also enjoyed playing bingo.

Survivors include her loving husband Antonio Rivera; children Danny Rosario, Jose (Bridget) Rivera, Hiram (Tina) Rivera, Ricardo Rivera, Antonio Rivera, Cecilia (Ariel) Salgado, Oscar Rivera, Osvardo (Mary) Rivera, JoAnn (Bill) Rivera and Ada Rivera; siblings Miguel (Antonia) Flores, Roberto (Milagro) Fred, Jose (Tina) Fred, Louis Fred, Luis (Mayra) Fred, Maria (Juan) Quiles, Maria (Salvadore) Agosto, Iris (Jaime) Fred-Gonzalez; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Friends and family are welcome to attend Calling Hours on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, Inc. where Funeral Services will be held the following day, Friday, December 20, 2024 at 10 a.m. Interment in Webster Road Cemetery.
