Carol A. Schuk

Carol A. Schuk, 81 of Fredonia N.Y, passed away December 23, 2024. Carol was born in Dunkirk N.Y. and lived in Chautauqua County her entire life.

She was a lifelong Catholic and parishioner of St.Marys/St.Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Dunkirk NY. Carol attended elementary school at St. Mary’s and attended Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk NY.

In 1959 Carol married John Schuk and had 4 children. While they had an estranged relationship, they remained married and co-parented until the end of their lives.

Carol was a lifetime caregiver, babysitter and loyal friend to many. Carol took great pride in assisting with the care of her mother, Carolyn Eaker, who went blind and was afflicted with Alzheimer’s.

Carol herself was stricken with Alzheimer’s and resided with her daughter Lesa at the time of her death. Lesa was her full-time caregiver in her final days with the assistance of her children Susie, Karen, Amy, John (Paula) and many others who all loved her dearly.

Carol loved Christmas and any holiday that brought her family together. She also loved cooking. Her spaghetti with huge meatballs was the best and remembered by many. She also enjoyed cooking fish dinners at the Knights of Columbus for around 30 years, where her brothers Bobby and Ed Eaker were club officers for decades. Many of Carol’s family gatherings and family memories occurred at the “Knights” with her family and friends.

Carol is survived by: her brother, Edward Eaker; one son, John (Paula) Schuk: four daughters: Susie Schuk, Karen Schuk, Lesa Schuk and Amy Martinez: grandchildren: Zackary Schuk, Dylan Schuk, Angelo (Carissa) Rivera, Samantha Rivera (Josh Nichols), Justin Schuk, Jordyn (Danielle Schimek) Plaza, Jocelyn (Owen) Plaza Fred: great- grandchildren: Avalynn Rivera, Alexzander Rivera, Marcel Plaza, Dayjia Daily, Kendra Krystofiak, Kamdyn Krystofiak, Ashton Plaza, Jordyn Plaza Jr, Justin Schuk Jr., Jayze Schuk: great-great -grandchildren: Solana Daily, Myla Moon Daily and Adonis Daily. Carol also had many other loved relatives but are too many to mention but were certainly loved by Carol.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Carolyn Eaker; her brother, Robert Eaker (Kathy Eaker-Surviving); her sister, Judith Promber (Stephen Promber-surviving); estranged husband, John Schuk; nephew, Stephen Jeffrey Promber and grandson Jacob Schuk.

Funeral services will be held at the LARSON- TIMKO Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, Thursday January 2, 2025 at 11 am.
