Robert A. Ardillo
Robert A. Ardillo, 84, of Fredonia, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk with his wife and daughters by his side.
He was born on October 27, 1940, the son of the late Russell and Anna Marie (Mary) Ardillo, in Fredonia.
Bob was a skilled tradesman and retired from SUNY Fredonia in the Services Department in 2001. He took pride in his job and loved being a part of the college community.
As a member of St. Anthony’s Church, he actively participated in many activities: altar server, parish council, organizer of fund raisers and parish dinners. He was a charter member of Father McGivney Knights of Columbus Council 7921 Fredonia and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 727 in Dunkirk. As a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society in Fredonia and past president, he was actively involved in charitable works and service to others in the community. Bob’s faith in God was evidenced by his unwavering commitment to helping those in need.
Bob and his wife, Patricia were married for 59 years and loved to travel, spend time with their family, and enjoyed many winters in Florida. They cherished attending their grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He took pride in cooking and preparing meals for family and friends, including his homemade specialties: Caponata, Italian sausage and his spaghetti sauce.
Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by all of his siblings: Rita, Russell, Francis (Chico), Richard and David. He was also predeceased by his infant son, Joseph Jude, son-in-law, Paul Siragusa (June 2024) and nephew Dennis Ardillo.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Pagano); daughters: Eileen Ardillo (Dan Rybij) and Kathleen Siragusa. He was a devoted Papa to his beloved grandchildren: Brittany Dunn (Ryan Klemens), Latham Dunn, Matthew Siragusa (fiance Emily Langton) and Daniel Siragusa, and two great-grandsons: Ronnie and Noah. His extended family included sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws and many cherished nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Church, 1032 Central Ave., in Dunkirk. Flowers are gratefully declined.
